Every year, in a remote part of Bowser's Badlands, Bowser's Bob-omb squadrons gather to participate in the Fire Bar Festival, a pleasant break from the monotony of serving in Bowser's army. When Mario shows up uninvited to this year’s festivities, the Bob-ombs scramble to put him through his paces. Mario, oblivious to the difference, faces the flames with good cheer.

After passing through the Fire Wheel Festival, Mario escapes into the Badlands' sewer system. He is puzzled by the lack of a clear path forward until he enters a strange, blue pipe...

A new species has been discovered! Enter the lava snake, a creature of variable size that thrives in warm climates. An anonymous architect flooded their castle with lava, as is popular nowadays, and accidentally started an infestation. They’d like to exterminate the snakes, but Mario’s been sent in first to do an ecological study. In all likelihood, the lava snakes will not be allowed to be disturbed. They’re a rare species, after all!

In a tower that climbs so high that gravity becomes meaningless, Piranha Plants grow unrestricted. Far from being a natural occurrence, this infestation has been engineered by Bowser Jr. Whatever his nefarious intentions, Mario is determined to stop it by drowning the tower in lava and roasting each and every evil plant, even if he risks burning himself.

A client isn’t too happy with the way their building project has been going, so they’ve sent in Mario to do an inspection. The builders aren’t pleased about having their work questioned, though. They’ve activated all the castle’s traps, and what’s worse, they keep throwing hammers at him! How rude.

The Bowser Badlands have been dangerous, but Mario has arrived at Castle Koopa. First, he must make it through Koopaling Keep, and those seven Koopa Kids are not going to make it easy for him! But when has that ever been a problem for Super Mario? Here we go!

Mario has finally cornered Bowser, and now it’s a race against time to prevent him from finishing his invincible tank fuelled by Power Stars! While Mario bravely battles Bowser, Luigi, Toad, and Toadette aim to blow up Bowser’s tower with Bob-ombs, ending his machinations once and for all!
